Interesting takeaways

Brambles Non-Executive Director Vikas Bansal joined the Board in March 2025 and recently marked his first purchase with 12,103 shares ($299,987). Mr Bansal brings over 30 years of global experience from listed companies across the industrial sector. He currently serves as CEO of Boral and holds non-executive director roles at LGI Limited and Washington H Soul Pattinson.

The timing is notable given Brambles is up 26.5% year-to-date, with much of the momentum driven by its FY25 result on 21 August, which sent the stock up 11.8% on the day. The key highlights included:

  • Sales revenue up 2% to US$6.66bn vs. US$6.77bn ests (1.6% miss)

  • Operating profit after tax up 12% to US$864.2m vs. US$848m ests (1.9% beat)

  • Return on capital invested up 1.4 pts to 21.9% vs. UBS ests of 21.4% (50 bp beat)

  • Final dividend of 20.83 US cents per share

  • Total dividend up 17% 39.83 US cents per share (vs. UBS ests of A$0.57, so ~7% beat)

  • Announced FY26 on-market buy-back of up to US$400m

  • FY26 outlook includes underlying profit growth of 8-11% at constant currency and free cash flow before dividends of 850-950m vs. UBS ests of 10.4% underlying profit growth

Bapcor has seen a wave of insider buying, with 7 transactions from 6 unique directors since early September. The stock has been heavily sold off in recent months, suffering one-day declines of -28% on 24 July, -6.7% on 1 September, and -17.6% on 20 October. The stock now trades at levels not seen since July 2015. The latest October selloff was triggered by a weak Q1 trading update showing:

  • Group revenue down 3% year-on-year to $497.7 million

  • Retail segment rate of sales decline has slowed and gross margin improving, but reinvesting in brand and promotional activities

  • FY26 underlying NPAT guidance of $51-61 million vs. Macquarie estimates of $76.3 million (26% miss)

Analysts generally see some upside from these depressed levels, but remain cautious on the near-term outlook given the volume of recent earnings downgrades and elevated debt levels.

Interesting takeaways

GDG's Executive Chairman Robert Coombe has recorded only two selldowns since joining the company in 2017, both occurring this month. Mr Coombe sold a total of 580,000 shares, representing approximately 6.1% of his holdings. The stock is up around 102% year-to-date and trading near record highs. This strong performance has been supported by a capable leadership team, higher flows from managed accounts and investment banks, as well as elevated valuation multiples for fund administrators (similar to peers like Hub24 and Netwealth). Most analysts remain bullish on the stock given recent M&A (moved to full ownership of Lonsec) and meaningful managed account wins.
